Drop-In Meditation

Experience the benefits of meditation in your life. Both new and experienced meditators benefit from group meditations, which greatly amplify the power of each meditator’s efforts. Each of us has a calm joyful center, deep within. It may get lost in the hectic pace of life, but it is there, waiting patiently for us.

Join our drop-in meditations on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30pm in Inspiration Room at the Ananda Portland temple. Come in and meditate for as long (or as short) as you like. You may enter or leave quietly at any time.

Our group meditations are free, and we offer many opportunities during the typical week to meditate with others. All are welcome!  It is always best to check our website or call ahead to check for any schedule changes.

Annual All-Day Christmas Meditation

An Annual Tradition Started by Paramhansa Yogananda

Every Christmas season, Ananda centers around the globe hold an all-day meditation on or near the 23rd of December (on Dec. 23 this year), just as Yogananda did years ago. Keeping the tradition alive with devotees around the world, we have an 8-hour meditation to inspire a deep sense of Christ-Consciousness, to hold the light, and to open our hearts to the beauty and joy of this season.

Evening of Remembrance

Inspired by the traditional All Saints and All Souls Days, Ananda remembers those gurubais, friends and family who are no longer with us. Beginning with an optional meditation, the evening will offer the opportunity to share memories of our dear ones and join one another in reflection and gratitude for the ways they touched us. The evening will include the choir singing music by Swami Kriyananda, and a brief astral ascension for those who wish to participate.

We will also be joined by Nayaswami Parvati, Executive Director of the Ananda Janaka Foundation, who will share about the Ananda Remembers program. Parvati is also a former spiritual director of Ananda Portland.

An evening of remembrance offers many opportunities for us. It allows space to honor our friends and family. And it also offers us space for reconciliation. Life is a rich tapestry of all our challenges and successes, victories and perceived failures. An evening of remembrance is a time to share our commonality in spirit.

Please bring a photo of any loved one you wish to put on the altar in remembrance. Photos should be given to Surendra or Margery by 6:45pm for placement on the altar.

NEW: You are also invited to submit names of departed loved ones for us to read aloud during the evening.

Learn To Meditate Workshop

Experience the benefits of meditation in your life—increasing inner peace, superior health, and spiritual awakening. Ananda is one of America’s oldest and largest centers for meditation classes and training.

The Learn to Meditate workshop is a short but intensive 3-hour immersion into some easy-to-learn techniques. It will help you establish a daily practice, providing you with increased calmness, greater focus and energy, and a solution-conscious approach to life.

Our instructors are certified and experienced in the techniques of kriya yoga as taught by Paramhansa Yogananda. Each instructor has a personal practice of meditation and many years of experience in sharing these teachings with others.
