|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, repeating until December 29, 2019

Ananda Services Are Open to All

Ananda services are nonsectarian. We invite you to join us in celebrating and sharing the universal truths taught by Paramhansa Yogananda and expressed by his direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda. Included in the Festival of Light service are many elements that uplift our consciousness and awaken our highest aspirations.

The Festival of Light service

10am most Sundays. see full calendar

This is an allegorical story of the soul’s journey away from its home in God and back to its union and complete freedom in spirit. At the end of the festival, you are invited to receive a blessing.

Sunday School

Sunday classes for children are offered on the first and third Sundays of each month, from 10-11:15am. Classes are led by Ananda members who love serving our children and families in this way.

The first Sunday of the month is Sunday School for children ages 4-11.

Our curriculum includes spiritual stories, yoga postures, games, craft activities, devotional music, affirmations, prayer, and meditation, based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda.

The third Sunday of the month is Exploring Yoga for teens 12 and up.

The teen program includes opportunities to dive more deeply into the teachings of Raja Yoga, which include yoga, meditation and service. We strive to give children an experience that teaches universal spiritual principles, helps them become familiar with the teachings of this path, and most importantly, reminds them of their own true spiritual nature.

Families are also welcome to use the preschool classroom for supervised quiet play, which has video feed of the service. Older children who are able to sit quietly are welcome to participate in the Purification as well as the Festival of Light services with their parents.

Restorative Yoga with Maitri

December 12 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until December 12, 2019

Experience deep relaxation in Your Life!

Restorative yoga is a practice of yoga that is about slowing down and relaxing deeply. With the aid of props to support your body, rather than your muscles, you can relax in the poses, without strain or pain, and so achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation. In a restorative class, you may hardly move at all, doing just a few postures in the course of an hour. Restorative yoga is very mellow, making it an excellent antidote to stress.

About Maitri:

Yoga teacherMaitri Brown is a certified 200-RYT Ananda Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. She served as Assistant Manager and taught at the studio for Ananda Yoga Palo Alto in California. She also taught yoga classes for Ananda Laurelwood Retreat Center. Her focus is on teaching gentle and restorative yoga, private and on-line yoga classes. She has many years of meditation training and practice through Ananda Self-Realization. She’s trained in mindfulness meditation, plus she’s a second-degree reiki practitioner.

My hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished, and balanced.
-Maitri
