“Chanting Is Half the Battle”
Paramhansa Yogananda uttered these words to spur us on in our individual battle to transcend our lower, egoic tendencies. Chanting together makes the effort even more powerful.
Ananda Kirtan is a joyful way to chant and practice devotion to the Divine with your gurubhais. It’s also a wonderful way to start your weekend, if you are looking for an uplifting Friday activity.
Devotional chanting is interspersed with short periods of silent meditation. Chants are most often in English, occasionally in Sanskrit and Italian. The chants are written by Swami Kriyananda or Paramhansa Yogananda and sung with guitar, harmonium and other instrumental accompaniment. There is a meditation toward the end.
Join us for this opportunity to open your heart in song to the Divine within.
*Masks are optional for temple events. Singing is understood to be a high risk activity during the Covid pandemic and masking is encouraged for safety. We take measures to insure good air circulation, including the use of air purifiers in the space.
This event will be in-person only.
