A kirtan is a time of group chanting and meditation. Chanting opens the heart; allowing us to express devotion and to feel God’s presence more deeply. The chants Ananda sings are mostly composed and written by Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda. We sing in English and occasionally in Italian and Sanskrit. Newcomers can quickly catch on to simple chants – the lines repeat and the melodies are easy to learn. Short periods of silent meditation are interspersed between chants, with a longer period at the end of the evening. All are welcome.
Kirtans are held at several locations – Ananda Community, Ananda Temple and Ananda House. These are often on the last Friday of each month. Check the calendar
