This course is intended to bring light and awareness of how to navigate challenges and find joy and peace in the later years of life.  For many, growing older can be a time of renewed spiritual purpose, deepening meditation and refining our relationship with God.

On a physical and material level, the aging process may also be a time of coping with our own and loved ones’ health challenges, loss of loved ones and ultimately becoming more dependent upon family or caregivers to assist us with personal care as the body declines. These difficulties can also be meaningful pathways for personal and spiritual growth at this stage of life.

In this class you will learn:

  • How become pro-active about aging
  • How transcend our fears, and resistance to Elderhood
  • How to prepare for inevitable loss that life brings, including: loss of a spouse, our  friends, our health, and our sense of security.

Unique aspects of this class:

  • We will be working together, doing small group activities
  • There will be ample time to share your story and personal challenges you  are facing
  • Together we will create a sacred space where we can take those initial steps into  Elderhood in a conscious way.

With decades of experience and insights, Nayaswami Hanuman and Jan Jerome will share wisdom and tools to approach the later years with a sense of positive expectation and peace, while planning and following practical strategies to prepare ourselves and our loved ones for the times ahead.  The key to being at peace with the changes that aging inevitably brings is preparing wisely for these years, while living everyday to the fullest, trusting in God.

This workshop is planned to be two parts, to enable participants to work on end-of-life planning and to have a follow up with Hanuman and Jan in one month.

The first workshop is scheduled for March 16 @ 11 am. Payment for that class includes Part 1 and Part 2.

Led by Nayaswami Hanuman BSN and Jan Jerome MSW.

About Nayaswami Hanuman:

I have been a nurse since 1976 and an Ananda minister for over 30 years. My primary interest has been in the physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing of those who I have had the privilege of serving. For 25  years I was a hospice nurse and co founded Ananda House, an elder care home for like minded people searching for meaning in their lives through Kriya Yoga.

Much of what I do is to educate and facilitate care management of people in need through partnering  with the greater health and social services community.

I am a member of the Ananda healthcare team in the United States. By partnering with other nurses and health ministers throughout our broader community we hope to educate and inspire others in the best possible way to live a happy and healthy life in our elder years.

About Jan Jerome:

Hello, my name is Jan Jerome and I have been an Ananda member for over 30 years.  I was blessed to receive Kriya in Seattle in 1989.  For the past 30 years, we have lived in the Denver, CO area and my husband and I moved to Oregon in 2023.  We are thrilled to be close to the Ananda Portland Temple and other devotees.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and have spent my career providing counseling, care management, palliative care and wellness education services in medical/mental health settings serving older adults and persons living with chronic and life limiting conditions.
