Event Type

On September 12, 1948 Swami Kriyananda, who was then Donald Walters, met Paramhansa Yogananda for the first time and became his disciple.

Swami Kriyananda became an example to the world, and particularly to the world of Ananda, of what discipleship to a great avatar looks like and how discipleship can lead to freedom from ego – perfect freedom in God.

This evening’s event is about gratitude for Swami Kriyananda and his discipleship to Yogananda. We recognize that if Swami hadn’t taken that step, Ananda would not have happened.

There will be music, chanting and meditation, some stories and readings and sharing of discipleship and how that is unique for every soul. We will read the discipleship vow. For those who are disciples, this is an opportunity to renew your vow with ever deepening commitment.

Please join us, whether you are new to Ananda or if you have been with us for years.

This event is free, but there will be an opportunity to give a donation to the work that Swami dedicated his life to: sharing Yogananda’s teachings with the world.
